Like Iron to a Magnet

“All one’s attention should be directed to the Creator blessed be He, and in all his actions he should have no other purpose than to bring himself closer to the Creator… until he is drawn after the Blessed One like iron drawn to a magnet. And anything that is believed to promote this closeness must be pursued; one should grab it and never release it. And one should flee from whatever stands in the way of these efforts as one flees from a fire.”

Rabbi Moshe Chaim Luzzato, The Path of the Just, Ch. 1
